Dr. Chaya of Richland Public Health to Host National Webinar

Dr. Julie Chaya, Director of Community Health & Prevention Sciences at Richland Public Health is hosting a national webinar through the National Network of Libraries of Medicine.

The webinar Transform Spreadsheets into Stories with Data Visualization will take place April 21, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. EST.

Dr. Chaya will be joined by Ann K. Emery, owner of Depict Data Studio and internationally-acclaimed data visualization speaker, to demonstrate and discuss data visualization techniques that anyone who works with data or spreadsheets can use. “Data visualization is a very powerful and influential tool that can communicate complex information to a wide variety of audience members in an engaging way,” said Dr. Chaya “but, if the data is not visualized properly, it can do a lot more harm than good. The wrong presentation type can diminish the data’s message or, even worse, misrepresent it entirely.”

The term “data visualization” has become a popular buzzword in the field of public health and a well sought-after skill set for employers in any field across the U.S. Anyone who creates or is interested in data visualizations, regardless of experience level or professional background, may register and attend the webinar.
