Private Water System Rules
On April 1, 2011 revisions to the Private Water System Rules, Chapter 3701-28 of the Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) become effective. Private water systems contractors must review these rule changes in order to be able to comply with the requirements for private water systems constructed, altered, repaired or sealed in Ohio. During March of this year, the Ohio Department of Health held regional training meetings across the state to discuss the key rule changes.
If you were not able to attend these meetings, please review the rules on the Department website at the link below, or contact us for a copy of the rules and training presentations.
The final revised rules can be reviewed at the Ohio Department of Health Private Water System Program.
Regional Training Meetings
Over the past several years professional members of the private water system industry, local, and state health agencies have worked together in developing these rule changes. All comments regarding these rule changes received by this department were reviewed and given consideration prior to final rule adoption.
The presentations from the rule training meetings, individual rule training videos (to be added soon), and the version of OAC Chapter 3701-28 rules with the highlighted changes is also available.
