What is Public Health Nursing?

The Public Health Nursing division consists of public health nurses who provide a variety of public health programs to the community. The public health nurses perform case management services for families who have children with special health care needs through the Children with Medical Handicaps program, prenatal and newborn home visits with ongoing follow-up and parent education, and school health services contracted through the schools. Community Health Screenings are provided at locations throughout Richland County offers an opportunity for individuals to have their blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol checked.

Our public health nurses work with local healthcare providers and the Ohio Department of Health to control the outbreak of communicable disease. Richland Public Health also provides leadership in the area of emergency response related to biological or public health threats.
